For your information, it's useful to be aware that most of the cPanel Hosting offerings on the present-day web hosting marketplace are furnished by a very insignificant marketing niche (when it comes to annual capital flow) called reseller hosting. Reseller web hosting is a sort of a small-size business niche, which provides a great quantity of different web hosting brand names, yet providing the very same services: mainly cPanel web hosting services. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Owing to the fact that at least ninety eight percent of the web hosting offerings on the whole web hosting marketplace offer the very same service: cPanel. There's no diversity at all. Even the cPanel-based Hosting prices are identical. Quite similar. Leaving for those in need of a top web hosting service almost no other web hosting platform/web hosting CP choice. So, there is just a single fact: out of more than two hundred thousand website hosting brand names worldwide, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2 percent! Less than two percent, note that one...

200k "Hosting service providers", all cPanel-based, yet differently labeled

The Hosting "diversity" and the web hosting "offerings" Google reveals to us boil down to merely one solution: cPanel. Under 100's of thousands of different website hosting brand names. Suppose you are only an average bloke who's not very familiar with (as the majority of us) with the web page creation procedures and the web hosting platforms, which in fact power the individual domain names and sites. Are you prepared to make your web hosting selection? Is there any web hosting option you can opt for? Sure there is, now there are more than 200,000 hosting suppliers in existence. Officially. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than 98% of these 200,000+ unique web hosting brands across the world will give you absolutely the same cPanel web hosting CP and platform, named in a different way, with literally the same price tags! WOW! That's how enormous the assortment on the present web hosting market is... Period.

The Hosting LOTTO we are all part of

Simple math demonstrates that to encounter a non-cPanel based web hosting company is a gigantic stroke of fortune. There is a less than 1 in fifty chance that a thing like that will occur! Less than 1 in fifty...

The pros and cons of the cPanel Hosting solution

Let's not be fierce with cPanel. After all, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was modish and presumably covered all web hosting industry requirements. To cut a long story short, cPanel can do the job for you if you have only a single domain name to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Weakness No.1: A dumb domain folder system

If you have 2 or more domains, however, be extremely careful not to erase fully the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will dub each subsequent hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domains are quite simple to erase on the web hosting server, because they all are created into the root folder of the default domain, which is the quite well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder situated inside the folder of the default domain name. Like a sub-folder. Next time attempt not to erase the files of the add-on domain names, please. Check for yourself how wonderful cPanel's domain name folder configuration is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is located)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you becoming nonplussed? We categorically are!

Downside No.2: The very same e-mail folder system

The e-mail folder arrangement on the server is exactly the same as that of the domain names... Repeating the same mistake twice?!? The sysadmin blokes firmly enhance their belief in God when tackling the email folders on the e-mail server, hoping not to muck things up too irretrievably.

Negative Side Number 3: An absolute shortage of domain administration menus

Do we have to mention the utter absence of a modern domain administration menu - a location where you can: register/move/renew/park or manage domain names, modify domain names' Whois info, protect the Whois information, alter/create nameservers (DNS) and DNS records? cPanel does not include such a "modern" GUI at all. That's a gigantic inconvenience. An inexcusable one, we would like to point out...

Weakness No.4: Multiple login places (minimum 2, maximum three)

How about the demand for an extra login to use the billing, domain name and tech support management software? That's aside from the cPanel user account login credentials you've been already supplied by the cPanel Hosting distributor. At times, depending on the invoice transaction tool (especially created for cPanel solely) the cPanel Hosting distributor is using, the zealous users can wind up with 2 additional logins (1: the invoicing transaction/domain administration platform; 2: the trouble ticket support user interface), ending up with a total of 3 user login locations (including cPanel).

Weak Point Number 5: 120+ website hosting Control Panel departments to get familiar with... promptly

cPanel offers to your attention more than a hundred and twenty departments inside the web hosting Control Panel. It's a fabulous idea to become acquainted with each of them. And you'd better get to know them rapidly... That's inordinately impudent on cPanel's side.

With all due appreciation, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel Hosting corporations:

As far as we know, it's not the year 2001, is it? Mind that one as well...
